Welcome to The Red Lion
Welcome to The Red Lion, a beautiful 200-year-old traditional country pub in the village of Stodmarsh, just 5 miles from Canterbury City Centre and a 10 minute walk from the Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve.
In April 2023 the pub reopened under the new management of Sarah.
Open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 noon every week, the kitchen boasts gorgeous, home-cooked dishes alongside quick fix bar snacks, and a locally renowned roast dinner every Sunday. The Red Lion also hosts live music, quiz nights, private events and more and has two fantastic B&B rooms for those who’d like to make their visit a bit longer.
As a family friendly pub, we have beautiful gardens with a small play area, games for the children and a reliable children’s menu. The pub (inside & out) is also dog friendly – make sure you find the treats on the bar! The Red Lion, Stodmarsh is thriving and we can’t wait to welcome you!

The Red Lion also offers rooms! We have two beautiful rooms above the pub, redecorated in February 2025 - the Blue & Green Suites. The Blue Suite boasts a beautiful queen size bed and has a luxury bathroom featuring free-standing bath and double walk-in shower cubical. The Green Suite also has a beautiful queen size bed and an en-suite featuring a double walk-in shower. Both rooms boast beautiful views over Stodmarsh and tea & coffee making facilities inside the room, with an optional breakfast at just £15 a head. The Red Lion is within walking distance of the Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve and within 20 minutes’ drive of the beautiful city of Canterbury.
